[1]
Do you have what it takes to be James Bond? Throw your hat in the ring for season two, just keep your eyes peeled for Oddjob who might be throwing a hat right back in your direction. Amazon Prime will be releasing the entire first season for you to binge, in just over a month, but the show is also actively accepting applications for season two!
According to an article in the Guardian, “Early promotional materials from Prime Video indicated it was leaning into Cox’s role as the patriarch Logan Roy in the multi-award-winning series Succession.” [2] According to an official press release from Amazon Prime, his character will be known as “The Controller,” and he convincingly plays the evil antagonist and tormentor.
The show aims to pit this rich oligarch character with piles of money against the contestants, to see if they have what it takes to endure his endless riddles and missions. With millions of dollars at stake, we’ll see which pairs can pull off the greatest caper of their lives on live reality television.
According to the official press release, “The Controller is villainous and cultured, and revels in the increasingly difficult journeys and questions the contestants must overcome. He has millions of pounds to give away—up to £1m per couple—but he doesn’t make it easy. Whilst he lurks in the shadows, he is watching and controlling everything.” [3]
The missions and adventures that the Controller leads his contestants through involve various James Bond travel destinations and related artifacts. One of those artifacts is our very own Jamaican Blackwell Rum. We can’t reveal too much about the competition or the specific games and riddles, but we’re excited to see Blackwell and Bond together on the screen. Two legends rooted in Jamaica.
It’s the very first time the Bond universe has entered an unscripted space. It’s incredibly exciting for Bond fans, many of whom have been following the lead man’s adventures for over 60 years! The first season in the series will launch exclusively on Prime Video and will be available in more than 240 countries and territories later this year.
Get your popcorn ready, and get your Blackwell Rum cocktail ready as well! We have a few ideas for you in that regard!
