There are a few non-negotiables when it comes to making a mojito. First, it must include rum as the primary spirit. Preferably a fine Jamaican rum, like our own Blackwell Rum. It also needs to involve fresh mint as a featured ingredient. Often the mint is muddled and also used as a garnish. Finally, lime is widely considered a prerequisite for a drink to be a mojito. That is the holy trifecta for the start of a well-made mojito.

For others still, it’s an all-time classic video game. Many who grew up with the game spent countless hours playing the first-person shooter and can conjure the theme song in a snap. It’s undeniably iconic.

Whatever GoldenEye means to you today, its origin story begins at a compound on the North Coast of Jamaica, where Ian Fleming wrote all 14 of his Bond books. The home that Fleming built overlooking Oracabessa Bay was named “GoldenEye.”
