Our Three Favorite Blackwell Rum Mojito Recipes
There are a few non-negotiables when it comes to making a mojito. First, it must include rum as the primary spirit. Preferably a fine Jamaican rum, like our own Blackwell Rum. It also needs to involve fresh mint as a featured ingredient. Often the mint is muddled and also used as a garnish. Finally, lime is widely considered a prerequisite for a drink to be a mojito. That is the holy trifecta for the start of a well-made mojito.
However, outside of rum, mint, and lime, there is some room on the dance floor to get creative. We’ve seen our quality Blackwell Jamaican Rum be used in a wide variety of mojito recipes, and we’re excited to share with you three of our favorites. These three cocktails are staples in Jamaica at the home of Blackwell Rum, and if you’re a Mojito lover, we’re hoping they become staples in your home as well!
1. Frozen Mojito
When a bartender imagines making a mojito, the muddle is normally their primary tool. Not with this refreshing and punchy Frozen Mojito. For this drink, your main weapon of choice is the blender.
Blended rum drinks are already well-loved, from daiquiris to different frozen rum punch cocktails, but it’s less common to see a blended mojito. After you try this recipe, we’re pretty certain you’ll be wondering why that is.
Ingredients:
2 parts Blackwell Rum
1 part simple syrup
1 lime
7-8 mint leaves
1 cup of ice
Method:
Add mint, simple syrup and lime juice into a blender
Pulse several times
Add the ice and rum to blend, until the ice is crushed
Garnish with a mint sprig and enjoy
2. Ginger Mojito
This Ginger Mojito recipe is one of our all-time favorites. The kick of ginger brings a unique sharpness and elegance to the drink. It’s a rare flavor combination that works to perfection.
The bitterness of the ginger plays off of the sourness in the lime and the sweetness of both the rum and mint. It’s a forceful flavor medley, one that you won’t fully understand until you prepare the drink yourself.
Ingredients:
2 parts Blackwell Rum
½ lime cut into quarters
½ inch fresh ginger cut into small pieces
2 teaspoons raw sugar
8-10 mint leaves
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Club soda
Method:
Muddle the mint, ginger, sugar and lime in bottom of glass or shaker, until mint is slightly bruised
Add ice, rum and top with club soda
Garnish with a mint sprig
3. Passion Fruit Mojito
It’s called Lilikoi on the Hawaiian islands and goes by the name Maracuya throughout Latin America. Whatever you want to call it, Passion Fruit Mojito is an incredible cocktail ingredient.
It’s tart and citrus explosion of flavor mixes perfectly with our premium Jamaican rum, sugar, club soda, and fresh muddled mint. If you’re searching for a mojito with a tropical twist that will slap your taste buds awake, look no further!
