In 1954 at age seventeen, he settled in Jamaica and it was here that he founded Island Records—the company that would change music history, presenting artists such as including Steve Winwood, Nick Drake, Grace Jones, Bob Marley and Cat Stevens to the world, continually championing Jamaican culture and reggae music.
