Five Cocktails For This Fall That Look As Good As They Taste

When it comes to Blackwell Rum cocktails, we like to play with ingredients to get a truly remarkable result. Our first goal is always to excite the palate. To give something special from the first smell of the drink to the final lasting note as the glass is placed back on the bar.

We take pride in the bouquet of flavors that our cocktails have in store for their next satisfied patron. As any good bartender will tell you, the drink's taste is first and foremost, but just behind the taste in order of importance is the presentation.

All of our cocktails are delicious, and most are also visually stunning. Keep reading for an introduction to five of our most aesthetic cocktails that are absolutely perfect for this fall season.

Jungle Bird

The Jungle Bird is as beautiful as it sounds. With Blackwell rum as the primary spirit, Campari as the secret weapon, and pineapple juice as the forward sweetness, it’s a heavenly concoction.

The lime juice and simple syrup round out the cocktail, and after it’s shaken on ice and strained into a glass, the deep sunset color will make you want to pull out your camera before that first sip. Garnish with a slice of pineapple to have a truly photogenic sundowner.

Ingredients:

1 ½ parts Blackwell Rum

¾  parts pineapple juice

½ part Campari

½ part lime juice

½ part simple syrup

Method:

1. Shake all the ingredients together in an ice-filled shaker

2. Strain into an ice-filled glass

3. Garnish with a pineapple wedge.

Black Jack

From the name itself, you might be expecting a cocktail for pirates. However, the Black Jack might be a bit too elevated for Jack Sparrow and most other rum-loving swashbucklers. The Black Jack is a watermelon-centered cocktail that leans onto the perfect flavor combination of watermelon and rum.

The signature feature of a Black Jack is a cubed and frozen watermelon square, that resembles a dice, and is the final garnish to this drink which is served in a martini glass. The visual effect of a pink tropical-looking dice in your cocktail makes it not only a delicious and refreshing cocktail but an aesthetically interesting one as well.

Ingredients:

2 parts Blackwell Rum

Chilled watermelon juice

Watermelon segment

Method:

1.  Cube a watermelon, leaving seeds in (to look like dice)

2.  Fill a martini glass with rum and watermelon juice

3.  Drop the watermelon dice into the cocktail

GoldenEye Cocktail

We all know James Bond was a martini man, but I like to think if he was going to change up his order, he would ask for a GoldenEye cocktail. Not only is it a strong yet refreshing flavor combination, but it’s also a beautiful golden treat for whoever orders one of these signature cocktails.

The pineapple juice, along with the pineapple garnish, gives the cocktail a regal appearance. A drink for royalty perhaps. Its golden shine will make any rum lover want to order one for themselves and perhaps a round for anyone else at the bar whom they hope to impress.

Ingredients:

1 part Blackwell Rum

1 part pineapple juice

Lime or pineapple wedge

Method:

1.  Shake together and strain into a chilled cocktail glass

2.  Garnish with lime or pineapple wedge

The final two cocktails here were created by guest bartenders using our premium Jamaican rum.

Blackwell Harvest by Chris Sweet

Perfect for a Tiki Halloween party, the Blackwell Harvest is a delightful combination of both fall and tropical flavors. Playing on autumn with colors, the campari gives this a nice hue while the apple and cinnamon pair well with the rum to cut down campari's bitter orange flavor.

This cocktail will not only impress with it’s looks, but the complex flavor arrangement will charm your tastebuds as well.

007 CABLE CAR by Tony Abou-Ganim

According to Liqour.com,  Bartending icon Tony Abou-Ganim—also known as The Modern Mixologist—created the Cable Car cocktail as an homage to San Francisco’s iconic, vintage transportation that passes by the Starlight Room, which he co-founded.

An icon of a bygone era, the city’s cable cars are the last remaining manually operated cable car systems in the country and still climb the hills of San Francisco, carrying tourists and commuters (though mostly tourists) up and down the busy streets. This 007 version of Tony’s beloved concoction benefits from our premium 007 limited rum, which brings even more punch to this classic cocktail that’s perfect for Fall.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz  007 Limited Edition Rum

3/4 oz  Marie Brizard orange curaçao

1 oz  lemon juice, freshly squeezed

1/2 oz simple syrup

1 orange spiral for garnish

1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

1/8 cup sugar

1 lemon wedge

Method:

1. Stir together the cinnamon and sugar in a wide-mouthed bowl or on a saucer.

2. Rub the rim of a chilled cocktail glass (or half of the rim) with the lemon wedge and dip the rim in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat. Set the glass aside.

3. Add the spiced rum, orange curaçao, lemon juice and simple syrup to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.

4. Double-strain into the prepared glass.

5. Garnish with an orange spiral.
